No one steers with the mane. Many horses do not feel that much in their mane (this is why manes are pulled and the horse doesn't even flinch) so steering there would do no good. You use your seat bones, legs, voice, and possible spurs to steer the well trained horse. Emphasis on well trained. You can't jump on the next random horse you see and expect it to respond to your leg and seat cues. I can ride my mare tackless because she is spur trained. She moves off of the spur and your seat to accomplish what you want. Trying to do this on an untrained three year old would end up with you on the ground and possibly some broken bones.

I am trying to find a website that has good priced saddles and everything. Also Show clothes and just riding clothes. All I know is horse.com I can't find anymore. Can anbody help?

My wife shops here all the time (My credit card hates it but she loves it.
